DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) is a critical email authentication protocol that protects your domain from spoofing and phishing attacks. PowerDMARC offers a comprehensive and user-friendly interface to manage and analyze DMARC aggregate (RUA) reports.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to download and upload DMARC XML reports in the PowerDMARC portal for efficient domain monitoring and email authentication management.
Downloading DMARC XML Reports
PowerDMARC allows you to download raw DMARC XML reports submitted by mailbox providers (like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc.) for your domains.
Steps:
Go to Reporting > Download/Upload XML Reports in the left-hand menu.
You will see a list of reports received from various senders.
Each row shows:
Sender Domain (e.g., google.com, microsoft.com)
Email address sending the report
Domain for which the report is sent
Date Sent and Date Processed
Click the eye icon (?️) to preview the XML.
Click the download icon (⬇️) to download the raw XML file.
The data is ready for offline analysis or to forward reports to other systems/tools.
You’ll also be able to download/view these XML reports from the section Reporting > Aggregate reports > Per Sending Source.
Uploading XML Reports to PowerDMARC
If you have DMARC RUA reports in .xml, .zip, or .gz format (from other mail services or forwarded by email), you can manually upload them to your PowerDMARC dashboard for parsing and analysis.
Steps:
Go to Reporting > Download/Upload XML Reports.
Click the “Upload XML” button on the top right.
A pop-up window will appear where you can drag and drop files or click browse to select files from your device.
Supported file types: .xml, .zip, .gz
Maximum file size: 10MB
Preview size limit: 1MB (only .xml supported)
Click Preview to view the file before uploading (optional).
Click Upload to process the report.
Important Note: Ensure that the domain in the report has already been added to your PowerDMARC account. If not, the uploaded report will not be processed.
View Upload History
After uploading DMARC XML reports, you can monitor the processing status and results through the View Upload History feature.
In the View Upload History section, you’ll see a summary of all your uploaded DMARC XML files, including the total number of records, how many were successfully processed, and any that failed. You can also delete previous uploads directly from this view.
Tip: If your upload shows "undefined" or zero records, ensure the file format and domain are correct and that the domain is already added in your account.
With PowerDMARC’s Download/Upload XML Reports feature, managing your DMARC RUA data becomes seamless and efficient. Whether you are analyzing reports for forensic purposes or ensuring compliance, this feature offers both automation and flexibility.
